Dog fanciers love to read about dogs whether it's a how-to manual or a collection of heartwarming doggy hero stories. Check out these popular titles.

Books about dogs are frequently among the best sellers in many book stores and sites. Dog lovers seek reading material ranging from what to feed dogs and how to train dogs to general dog care, dog shows, dog sports, kids’ dog books, and just plain old heartwarming stories of man’s best friend. If you love dogs, you probably love to read about dogs too. The books listed below are a small sample of what some other dog fanciers are adding to their library.

Dog Training

The Power of Positive Dog Training by Pat Miller – This training guide, written by a thirty year veteran dog trainer who sits on the Board of Directors for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, is selling at Amazon. It is considered useful instruction by many dog-crazy people.

How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With by Clarice Rutherford and David H. Neil – The puppy months are most important in raising a well-behaved and happy pet. Many new puppy owners are buying this book at Barnes & Noble.

Dog Care

ASPCA Complete Dog Care Manual by Bruce Folge – This book of basics covers history, grooming, training, showing, first aid, and more. Dog owners claim this book helps them keep their pet in top condition.

Dog Health and Nutrition by Dr. M. Christine Zink – Written by a veterinarian, this book gives expert advice on basic dog care and nutrition as well as common dog ailments and taking care of older dogs.

Introduction to Dog Agility by Margaret H. Bonham – This book, popular with agility beginners, offers information on breed selection, agility rules, and equipment.

Dog Breeds

Dogs: A Startling New Understanding of Canine Origin, Behavior & Evolution by Raymond Coppinger and Lorna Coppinger – This number one bestseller at WorkingDogWeb is written by behavioral scientists and offers insight regarding canine evolution and behavior.

Dog Breeds by Joan Palmer – This compact guide helps potential dog owners identify breeds along with information on the type and amount of care each breed requires.
