Boarding Kennel Worker - Dog owners often travel for business or vacation and must leave their pets in boarding kennels. Boarding kennel work involves dealing with the public, keeping supplies stocked, cleaning and disinfecting kennels and runs, bathing, exercising and playing with dogs as well as feeding and sometimes giving medications. Experience with dogs and management skills are helpful.
Shelter Worker - Shelter work is similar to the work in boarding kennels. It requires cleaning and disinfecting kennels and runs, bathing, exercising and playing with dogs, feeding, giving medications, keeping supplies stocked, screening adoptive pet parents, and a plentiful supply of patience in rehabilitating homeless animals. Although income is usually limited, it can be a rewarding job.

Veterinary Technician - A veterinary technician assists the veterinarian. Although colleges offer classes for certified and registered veterinary technicians, some vet techs get their training on the job. The work may include opening and handling medications and medical supplies, preparing animals for and assisting in exams and surgeries, caring for sick and post op animals, and keeping the veterinary office and equipment clean.
Dog Food, Dog Supplies and Equipment Agent - Dog food and pet supply companies are usually large corporations that offer many positions from clerical to management to sales representatives. Job availability and pay will vary with the position.
