Seattle Dog Stores in Ballard and FremontPampered Pet Accessories, Off Leash Park, Doggie Day Care & Groomer
There are several super Seattle dog stores in Ballard and Fremont. Here are places for pet accessories, an off leash park, and a doggie day care with a great groomer.
Seattle has more dogs than kids, so it’s not surprising that yuppie puppies have their own adorable boutique stores. Here are some great Seattle dog places in the Ballard and Fremont neighborhoods. Try out these pampered pet accessories, an off leash park, and one doggie day care with fab pet-friendly groomers. Lucky Dog: Ballard / Fremont Seattle Groomers, Dog Wash, Doggie Day Care
Lucky Dog is not quite Fremont, but not really Ballard. Take Leary Way and turn on the same street as Fred Meyer, but go the opposite direction, away from the water (east). This store seems to be the hip, hot day spa for pups in the know. Almost every dog starts wiggling and wagging when he hears those happy words, Lucky Dog. Don’t leave the pup home to chew the shoes. Lucky Dog has a large indoor dog space for day care, a self serve dog wash, boarding, and Tim the Groovy Groomer.
Last self-serve dog wash begins a half-hour before close, except for Friday and Saturday when they party until 9pm. Check out the Lucky Dog pics. One of the best dog towns in the country is Seattle. What are the others? Bark Natural Pet Care: Ballard Seattle
This is such a cute little place along Ballard Avenue, the newest trendy neighborhood, and it’s a great place to add to the Ballard Sunday Market shopping list. People always take their pup to the farmers market, don’t they? Bark is a bit spendy, but Princess and Max are so worth the indulgence. It doesn’t really look like a dog products store. Until the doggie daddy / mama walks inside, it looks like a children’s boutique. I guess a dog is a child, right? Get designer collars, colorful coordinated leashes, and beds for the little ones. Bark has good-for-dogs treats like: duck, sweet potato, salmon, organic biscuits, or shed deer antler (a big dog chew stick). Bark has great pet food, without weird by-products. And, ask about discounts on bulk-purchased canned food. Shop locally owned stores. Fight big boxes.
Railey’s Leash & Treat
Railey’s Leash & Treat is a hip little dog boutique which is super easy to find. It’s in “downtown” Fremont, across the main street from the Lenin Statue. There was a cute, lanky Asian gal with a poodle on a leash and a soccer mom with a child. Gasp. The woman at the counter was friendly and introduced me to Tonka, the English Bulldog. What is it with bulldogs that makes them so cute? Maybe it’s the little nose. Railey’s had a glass counter filled with doggie cookies, but they should have had some for humans, too. They looked delish. Within the range of psychedelic leashes and collars, one could find a clever combo to complement the color of any dog's eyes. Railey’s has purses for smuggling a pooch into stores (No! Bad person!), dog toys, puppy clothing, friendly furniture, natural foods and soaps, and all kinds of things that a dog mommy never knew she needed. It’s a clever little store.
Dog-Friendly Place in Fremont: Norm’s Eatery & Alehouse
Norms is exactly 413 ft west of Railey’s (about a block towards Ballard). Tired people can have their puppy pull them across the street to inhale some fortification at Norm’s Alehouse. Norm’s is a traditional friendly American pub, with (surprise) a dog on the sign. The hamburgers are really good (try a bacon burger) and it is said that the other people foods are quite tasty, as well. It’s a great place to hang out and meet new people and new dogs, so bring the pup.
Closest dog park: Golden Gardens in BallardGolden Gardens has an area that is fenced in for off leash dog socializing. The people are usually friendlier than the off leash Woodland Park dog area (by Green Lake), though the dogs can get down and dirty here. Hit the link for Golden Gardens Map. And, shy little dogs might not be happy with the big guys. There’s no off leash beach access. For that, go to Magnuson Park or the mighty Marymoor in Redmond. The "in" Seattle dog places in Ballard and Fremont are Bark or Railey's for pet accessories, Golden Gardens for an off leash park, and Lucky Dog for doggie day care and Tim the groomer. These are not the cheapest places, other locations can be more convenient (parking?), and "in" spots change over time (but Norm's Alehouse is forever). These are, definitely, great places to take the little furball for special occasions. Look at these ideas for dog costumes. Dogs may not like wearing hats but they love to trick for the treats in these outfits.
