It is a fact that dogs require daily exercise to maintain a healthy body and mind. However, many people find themselves unable to spend time or keep up with their pets.

There are countless responsible dog owners who desire to adequately exercise their dogs but simply cannot due to a physical disability or lack of time. This article will provide those people with a two fantastic suggestions that will enable them to relax while their dogs receive essential exercise.

For people who are not sure whether or not their dog needs exercise, read about how to determine if your dog is under-exercised.

Effortlessly Play Fetch With a Dog While Relaxing:

One tool that will exercise a dog with little effort on the owner’s part is a device that propels a ball farther than it is possible to throw freehand. This device has a tennis ball sized scoop on its end and is attached to a fairly long handle.

The user is able to throw a toy a considerable distance with very little effort. This device makes it easy to play fetch with a dog because it does a lot of the work itself. As long as the dog returns its toy, all the owner has to do is put the toy in the scoop and “fling.”

This tool can be used both indoors and outdoors for hours at a time. The device does not require its user to move and it preserve’s his or her arm while make the dog run farther than a conventionally thrown toy.

How to Train a Dog to Use the Treadmill for Exercise:

The treadmill is a perfect tool that will effectively exercise a dog while its owner is free to do as he or she pleases. A dog can be quickly trained how to use the treadmill during which time supervision is necessary. It generally takes less than five hours of practice before a dog learns how to walk on the moving surface.

To train a dog how to walk on the treadmill, securely attach its leash to the left or right post of the treadmill. Attach the dog to its leash and set the canine on the tread. Take a moment to allow the dog to acclimate to the feeling of the tread and restriction of the leash.Next, it is permissible to turn on the machine; make sure to positively reward the dog with small treats and praise during this stage.

It helps to stand in front of the dog as it begins to learn how to walk on the treadmill because the dog will be motivated by the sight of its owner. Slowly increase the speed of the treadmill until the dog moves at its normal gate.

Increase the time the dog spends on the treadmill each training session until it has mastered the machine. Once the dog is comfortable on the treadmill, its owner does not have to supervise it as much. However, to avoid injury, a dog should never be left completely unattended on the machine unless it is attached to an extendable leash.

Every dog owner will notice the positive change in his or her pet after it receives enough exercise. An exercised dog is healthier, happier, and more obedient than one that is chronically under exercised.
