In response to Get rid of that odour posted by mccabe1964:If a dog is fed naturally, according to their species (carnivore which eat raw meat and bone diet) they will not have nor should they have a bad body odor. If a dog is raw fed several things will be very evident and soon noticeable to those of us who traditionally fed out of a bag:
1. Your dog will not have a body odor. Dogs are carnivores and should not have body odor else in the wild their prey could smell them coming...not good if you want to eat.
2. Your dog will not have dirty teeth or smelly breath. The teeth will be very white and clean.
3. Your dog will have a very shiny coat with little shedding except for seasonal shedding which is normal.
4. The excrement (poop) will be very small with little odor as most of the food will be assimiliated so there will be little waste.
5. Typically raw fed dogs are much healthier.
Here are some of the articles I've written that can help you understand the whys, hows and whats:

My Scottish terrier had a terrible smell when we first got him. I was told it originated from impacted anal glands, so we had them cleared. The worst smell was eliminated, but he still has an offensive odor if kept inside. In Florida, he tends to get overheated if we leave him outside, so that isn't an option. Is it just the canned food we're giving him? He seems to be allergic to everything. Could that be part of the problem? Help! I love the little beast, but his smell makes it hard to invite folks over. Thanks,
Maggie

Any new odors from your dogs should be brought to the attention of your pets if you can't detect the source as something they got into or something they ate that may 'pass' through their system. This is a great link that described some causes of natural and unnatural dog odors.

Thank you so much for the information. I think Mr. Scotty may have a less smelly life from here on out thanks to you.
