In response to potty training ain't happenin'! posted by Deke76:

For some dogs it takes longer than for others. I had a 10 week old German Shepherd puppy who was potty trained after only one mistake in the house but each dog has his own time frame.

Try putting him in his crate for about 30 minutes and then letting him outside. When he potties, leave him out for awhile or allow him a few minutes loose in the house before you repeat the crate thing again. Hopefully he will 'hold it' in the crate and gradually learn that going outside means a potty break, and that he should hold it till then. You can slowly increase the crate time to about an hour or so, until he gets the lesson down pat. You can also take up his water 3 to 4 hours before bedtime and then let him outside the last thing before bed. It's best that they are never left in a crate long enough that they are forced to potty there, as this becomes a hard habit to break, once established.

I'm wondering how old he is, as some puppies just don't have the maturity for potty training until they are several months old. Please be patient with him. He will get it eventually. Keep us posted.
