Thousands of pets were rescued and fostered after Hurricane Katrina. Unclaimed animals could not be kept indefinitely and were eventually adopted out. Some of them have been sought out months later by owners who, due to circumstances beyond their control, were unable to search for or accept their pets any sooner. What should the new adopting family do?
